3In this lecture, with the help of workbooks and
worksheets, our P.3 students will be able to...
- distinguish between simple present tense and
simple past tense. - form the past tense by adding ed to the verbs.
- know how to pronounce the past tense of some
regular verbs. - describe past events using regular verbs.
- recognise the time adverbials such as yesterday,
ago, last week, today and so on.
4Our rationale in designing this presentation
- We use a calendar to show the present and the
past since it is a text form that students are
familiar with. - We deliberately omit irregular verbs and verbs
that require the y-ied inflection because it is
only the first introducation to the use of past
tense. - We design a competition to motivate the students
and invite active participation.
5Procedures in using this presentation
- Teacher presents slides (6-15) to revise the use
of present tense. Teacher may allow students to
answer them orally first before showing the
answers. - Teacher presents the calendar to introuduce the
concept of the past. Students maybe invited to
click on any pictures that they want to discuss. - Teahcer shows the pronounciations of the verbs.
- Students invited to take part in the competition
as a practice.
