7Ethical Question
- Despite the fact that sweatshop workers around
the world experience less than ideal working
conditions/pay rates, and brand name clothing
companies make large profits, should we encourage
the workers to stay with the status quo so that
you, the Canadian teenage consumer, can buy
inexpensively priced clothing in North America?
8Task
- In order to understand the issues surrounding
sweatshops, it is necessary to research the
issue.
Task 2
9Your Job
- Your job is to work in groups to investigate
different web sites and gather information about
human rights abuses and what, if anything
different companies have done about the issues
- Be aware that this is a politically emotional
issue! - The information presented at various web sites
will be slanted and biased towards the
webmasters point of view.
Task 3
10Please Consider
- While conducting your research think about
whether you as a consumer should - ignore the issue altogether continue to buy
clothes where when you want - be aware of the issue, but do nothing
- boycott specific businesses
- get more involved in the issue
11Process
- In particular you will look behind the label at
- working conditions
- wages
- company profits
- history of success failures
- ethical moral issues
Process 2

research and from the other group members. - The poster or brochure will contain one paragraph
on each topic area, be sure to include facts
gained during your research. Remember to cite
your sources and include graphics. - The last paragraph should express your personal
opinions on sweatshops. Justify your views with
information you have learned during your
