H.235 v2 Security

• Endpoint Support

• Verifies that the sender and receiver of a
  message are, in fact, who they say they are
• Verifies that data has not been altered in an
  unauthorized manner

Whenever an endpoint sends a message to the
Gatekeeper, the endpoint encrypts the message
using the password. The Gatekeeper receiving the
message authenticates the message using the same
password. If one of the parties does not have the
correct password, the authentication fails and
the transaction is rejected.

Alternate Gatekeeper Solutions

• Built in Mirroring Information to Hot Standby
• Slave-Master Routine

• Alternate Gatekeepers allow the endpoint to
  register and call the destination when the
  original GK goes down.
• This is accomplished with a Hot standby GK that
  receives al information from the operating GK. It
  is knows if the operating GK goes down, and
  automatically assumes the GK's IP and full
  operation.
• When the original GK goes up, it then becomes the
  slave of the now operating GK.
