similar classroom assessments that measure the
same construct. However, in cases where the
documentation is not consistent with
accommodations used during instruction, the
student is to receive the accommodations
specified in the current IEP or Section 504 Plan
although this could adversely affect student
performance. It is vital for students with
disabilities to receive accommodations on
State-mandated tests that allow them to
demonstrate their true abilities however,
students must not receive unnecessary or
inappropriate accommodations. - Testing Students with Disabilities, Pg. A1.06
12Gr3 Pretest - Procedures

proper section of the test and answer sheet.
Requires constant attention of Test Administrator
and Proctor, especially after breaks. - Review of answer sheets for stray marks, etc.
must be with 3 or more personnel in secure
setting. No test booklets may be present. - Test Item Review is available 0n-line. May be

13Gr3 Pretest - Procedures contd (2)
- Procedures for situations that may occur during
testing - Misalignment See TAM page 21.
- If a student is not marking the number on the
answer sheet that matches the number of the test
question after the student was checked at the
beginning of the actual test administration, the
test administrator must use his/her best judgment
to determine whether the error can be corrected
during the testing session. In the least
disruptive manner possible, the test
administrator may notify a student that the
responses are misaligned. - Note Local personnel are not permitted to alter
student responses to test items on the answer
sheets.
14Gr3 Pretest - Procedures contd (3)

52 - If a student is not marking the appropriate part
of the answer sheet (e.g., marking answers to the
mathematics test in the reading part of the
answer sheet) after the student was checked at
the beginning of the actual test administration,
(1) the test administrator must note the time
tested, (2) the proctor must remove the student
from the testing session, and (3) the school test
coordinator must determine if the recorded
student responses can be transferred. If so, the
testing session continues. If not, a
misadministration must be declared. - Note Local personnel are not permitted to alter
student responses to test items on the answer
sheets.
16Gr3 Pretest - Special Codes

accountability audits) - The item review and the review/coding of secure
test materials for stray marks and coding must
occur under secure conditions in a group setting.
- A group is defined as, 3 or more school
personnel. - During review of answer sheets and headers before

Student answers are NOT to be changed or modified
in any manner during this process.

25Test Security Testing Code of Ethics
- EVERYONE except students reads the Testing Code
of Ethics. - School personnel are not to disclose the
contents of secure tests by discussing specific
questions or information contained within the
tests with each other or with students. - In addition, excerpts must not be used at any
time during classroom instruction or in resource
materials as study guides. - Access to the tests shall be limited to school
personnel who have a legitimate need. - Not copied, filed, used in instructional
activities, reproduced, or paraphrased. - Report any sample test questions in instructional
material prior to use, whether generated locally,
from another school, or from an unknown source.
26Test Security Accounting for Materials
- Everything issued out gets returned to C.S.
Testing - Secure, locked, limited access storage area
- USE TRACKING SHEETS FOR EVERYTHING!
- Count whenever any testing items change hands...
even to students - Prohibit reproduction of all or any part for the
tests - Prohibit employees from disclosing the content
- Minimize access of anyone before and after
- Report materials discrepancies immediately to
C.S. Testing - Review for scanability, required coding, and
SIQ information in secure conditions of a group
session
27Test Security Accounting for Materials (2)
- Under no circumstances will TCs allow Test
Administrators to keep any type of test materials
overnight (except TAMs and Pretest Activity
forms). - If answer sheets are issued to test
administrators prior to the actual test date for
data verification, etc., all answer sheets must
be returned and secured by the Test Coordinator
at the end of the day. - Test Coordinators must verify that issued test
materials of any type have been returned to them
at the end of each day. - Keeping test materials in classrooms is not
allowed, even when locked in filing cabinets or
desks.
28Test Administrators and Proctors
- Test Administrators and Proctors must be present
in session AT ALL TIMES. Absence of Test
Administrator will probably constitute
misadministration. - Test Administrator may leave the session only in
an emergency and must notify the TC. - Proctors must remain in the test session, except
in an emergency. - Proctors dont read directions or assist students
to select answers, or to modify, change, alter,
or tamper with student responses to test
questions. Proctors do not review answer sheets
for scannability. - Proctors are required for every test session
even one-on-one. - Proctors and Test Administrators may not do other
work or read during test session. Their sole
focus for the duration of the test session is the
administration of the test.
29Test Administrators and Proctors contd
- Proctors and Test Administrators must be
attentive exclusively to the testing session.
They may not do other work or reading while the
test session is in progress. - Test Administrators and Proctors are to move
quietly about the room and scan the students
work areas to ensure that students are following
the test directions, performing the required
tasks, and not sharing responses.
30Responsibilities

31Test Coordinator Accessibility
- The school test coordinator must be
accessible to test administrators and proctors
during the administration of secure state tests.
Due to the accessibility requirement, the school
test coordinator must not be given the
responsibility of administering a test. - No exceptions.
32Avoid Misadministrations
- Remove instructional wall displays.
- Glasses and medications must be utilized, as
prescribed, during testing. - Make sure proper calculators are available and
memories cleared before and after testing. - Do not provide instruction the morning of
testing. - Windows of testing rooms must be uncovered or
classroom door must remain open.
33Avoid Misadministrations contd
- No off-level testing. Check before test day.
- DO NOT put materials on desks before the students
are seated. Hand out all materials in strict
accordance with the script in the TAM. - AFTER handing out the materials, move students as
necessary so that forms are distributed to
prevent sharing. - Make sure each students form/color answer sheet
matches their test book. - Verify the test book form matches the form
bubbled by the student on his or her answer
document.
34A Gentle Reminder
