Beth Haxton

• Beth Haxton is a fourteen-year-old girl who has
  lived in Tennessee her whole life. She has two
  best friends Marcie and Teddy. Then one day her
  whole life changes. She has to move to a new
  town, make new friends, and learn how to live
  with her aunt, uncle and cousin.

The Haxton Family

• The Haxton family is Paul, Carol, Beth, Allison
  and Doug. Paul and Carol are great parents who
  care about their children very much. Doug and
  Allison are Beths younger siblings who love to
  annoy her. Allison and Doug are always running
  around the house. Allison loves to play soccer
  and Doug loves catching bugs.

Teddy Carpenter

• Teddy Carpenter is the Haxtons neighbor. He is
  the same age as Beth and has gone to school with
  her his whole life. Teddy loves to play
  basketball and has a huge crush on Beths best
  friend Marcie.

Marcie

• Marcie is Beths best friend. She and Beth have
  gone to school together their whole lives. After
  Beth moves they e-mail each other every day and
  keep in touch.

Camille

• Camille is Carols sister. Camille and Carol
  were best friends and were pregnant with Beth and
  Terri at the same time. Even though they lived a
  long way from each other they called each other
  constantly.

Jack

• Jack is Camilles husband. He is always away on
  work and doesnt have a lot of time for his
  family. Doug was always telling him to get his
  priorities in line. Jack and Doug were in the
  service together and while they were Camille and
  Carol lived together.

Terri

• Terri is Beths cousin. When Beth has to go live
  with her Terri gets very upset. She feels like
  her space has been invaded. Terri is also a snob.
  At school she has names like Tattle-Tale-Terri
  among others. Finally Beth and Terri start to get
  along and act like sisters.

Setting

• This book takes place in modern time. The
  beginning of this book takes place in Beths home
  town, a small town in Tennessee. Then Beth has to
  move to her aunt and uncles house in Tampa Bay,
  Florida.

Problem

• One day the Haxton family has to go to a
  business picnic but Beth is sick so she doesnt
  go. Then something tragic happens, Beths whole
  family is killed in an automobile accident. After
  her aunt, uncle, and cousin come up to the
  funeral, they have to rent out her house. Then
  Beth has to leave all of her friends and move to
  Tampa with her relatives.

• This is a sad, but very good book. On a rating
  from 1-10, I would give it a 10.
