• Fall 2007 Odour and VOC Testing Program

Purpose

• The purpose of the testing program is to measure
  odour and VOC emissions from the Raywal facility.
• Raywal Volunteered to conduct this assessment in
  their CofA Application for the new finishing
  line.
• The MOE incorporated the testing in the terms and
  Conditions of Certificate of Approval 5598-6JSMJP
  issued by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment
  (MOE) on June 12, 2007.

Source Measurements

• The following sources will be tested under
  worst-case (maximum production) emission
  conditions
• Stack 30 Stain line spray exhaust
• Stack 28 Stain line curing oven exhaust
• Stack 27 Sealer/topcoat line spray exhaust
• Stack 24 Sealer/topcoat line oven exhaust
• Stack 39 Spray booth 12 exhaust
• Stack 35 Spray booth 4 exhaust and,
• Stack 20 Spray booth 6 exhaust

Testing Methodology

• Triplicate testing on each of the exhaust stacks
  will be conducted.
• The odour samples will be collected subject to
  the assessment of an odour panel.
• VOC samples will be collected and submitted to a
  CAEL accredited laboratory for analysis.
• The sampling program will also include monitoring
  stack exit gas flow parameters, such as
  volumetric flow rate, moisture content,
  temperature and molecular weight.
• Operating conditions of the seven stacks will
  also be monitored during each test by qualified
  operators.

• Cyclonic/Reverse Flow OSTC Method 1
• Moisture Content - OSTC Method 4
• Velocity - OSTC Method 2
• Odour (continuous sources) - MOE Source Sampling
  For Odours Ver. 2.
• Odour (intermittent sources) - Sampling Lung and
  Vacuum Pump
• VOCs - charcoal tube and personal sampling pump
  for Total VOC (TVOC) and specific VOC species.
• Methanol - Silica gel tube and personal sampling
  pump

QA/QC Procedures

• All equipment to be used in the sampling program
  is regularly calibrated against primary
  standards. Calibration records will be provided
  in the final report for all equipment used in the
  program.
• Field data sheets for stack parameter testing
  will be based on formats provided in the Ontario
  Source Testing Code. Any anomalies that might
  take place during the sampling will be noted by
  the operators in a hard cover notebook.
• The sampling preparation and on site sampling
  QA/QC checks will follow the related MOE
  documents OSTC (Version 2) and Source Sampling
  and Evaluation for Odours (Version 2).

Schedule

• Preliminary testing date week of November 26,
  2007.
• Laboratory analysis 2-weeks from sample
  submission
• Data analysis and reporting 3-4 weeks from
  receipt of lab data.
