2Who is a Carer?
- A Carer is a person whose life is restricted
through choosing to look after a relative or
friend who is physically or mentally ill or
simply frail.

- Late 1990s - SAVS identified a gap in the local
Voluntary Sector market - 1999 - Southend Carers Forum launched
- Supported by Southend B C and the NHS
- Registered charity
- Limited company by guarantee
