Just like when building a house you must have a
plan.

Build administration support

• Make an appointment with the college president
  and provost or academic vice president
• Talk to the colleges marketing or public
  relations department
• Find help where you can get it if you dont get
  the help you need at first

Get faculty on board

• Is there a literacy committee or group?
• Start with your humanities or social sciences
  department

Promote to other student groups

• We worked with the faculty literacy committee,
  the Environmental Club, Student Government, and
  the Honors programs.
• Find similar groups at your college

Have a strategy for collection points

• They must be convenient to point where book
  buyback happens or close to major traffic areas
  such as the area(s) of faculty offices
• Check them often and remove books to a safe place
• Pack them immediately so that they are not
  spoiled or damaged and use boxes from Better
  World or a similar heavy book box
• Make collection a party!

Have a marketing plan

• Success builds success
• Helps membership by promoting service and raising
  awareness
• Dont hesitate to accept help from outside of the
  college

Spread the word!

• Make your efforts known to other chapters, the
  region, and International
