Title: Wrapping%20up%20and%20Moving%20Forward
1Wrapping up and Moving Forward
- Thank you Gordon for being such a gracious and
complete host. - Thank you to all the speakers, session chairs and
scribes. - We hope you found the meeting useful
- And thank you all for contributing to the OSG as
we move forward.
2Adding to the Resources
All VOs
- While we have been here the number of Sites has
increased by 2 - LeHigh University as part of the GLOW VO and
- University of NotreDame as part of the North West
Indiana Grid VO. - And the number of VO jobs running has reached an
all time high
VOs minus the big 3
3The Data Grid side of the picture..
LIGO generates 1TB of data per day. This is
transferred to Caltech via FedEx. A subset of
this data is transferred via the Internet on a
time scale of roughly one hour or less. The
size of the subset is about 1/15 of the full
dataset that is being sent via FedEx, which comes
out to about 70 GBs per day.
This same reduced dataset (70GB/day) is
transferred to LIGO Tier II centers on comparable
timescales if they so choose to "pull" the
dataset.
4Other apps in the pipe?
- Nanohub.. UNM initial run was 1.5Gbytes.
Biomoca in animation mode would generate
terabytes? - Upcoming West Nile Virus? 11,000 jobs in a
sequence. 100Gig.
Apps I/O Profile also needs addressing?
SDSS and GADU have problems, SDSS helped by use
of SE not direct I/O to NFS mounted disk.. But
still have problems getting sufficient reserved
space.

7GIN --
- Gin Data - Erwin Laure (EGEE)
- GridFTP interop tests status, issues (Gregor)
(uses stuff from WorldGrid!) - SRM interop tests status, issues (Alex)
- SRB interop tests (including interop with SRM)
status, issues (Reagan) - Further plans (Erwin)
- GIN Applications - Cindy Zheng (Pragma)
- 1) TDDFT (whatdye know its from Washington.edu!)
- Congratulations to both AIST and OSG teams!
Looking forward to see TDDFT run on all 4 sites.
Cindy - Time-dependent density functional theory in the
LDA approximation using real-time and real-space
methods, i.e. without basis sets. - 2) CHARMM (JHU Bio) P-Grade Portal
(Poland/Gridpp). - Running on GIN now being registered with OSG VO.
- Chemistry at Harvard Marcomolecular Mechanics
8We have (again) identified lots of work that must
be done and some owners of the solutions
- 1) Easily available (OSG or VDT Cache) scripts
for each and every VO to validate sites and use
the information of where they can run --
Operations, Leigh. - 2) Identify available job slots for VOs to use --
more complex than you might think -- Facility,
Miron - 3) Local Space and Storage reservation and use --
commitment to 15 sites with SRM V2.2/dCache and
SRM V2.2/? For testing within 6 months --
Extensions, Frank. - 4) Utilities to diagnose problems, first scripts
by the end of the year -- Troubleshooting,
Shaowen. - 5) Written agreements on expectations between OSG
and VOs as well as Software Providers by the next
Consortium meeting -- Staff, Ruth. - 6) Vulnerability identification and decision
process more clear to management -- Security,
Don. - 7) Interoperability support and agreements --
Operations, Leigh, Ruth.
9- 1) Gratia Accounting Need to ramp up active
attendance at all OSG venues - (post-baby)
Philippe - Ready to start sending and checking Daily Reports
to Miron for checking. - Ready to start testing replacement of individual
reports, ingesting the information into the
common repository, and publishing to OSG.
10- 2) OSG 0.6.0.
- Prioritized list of services from the
Applications for VDT - Frank. - Plan for VDT - Alain.
- SRM/dCache Need agreed upon plan . Need date
for full day meeting in September - Alain,
Eileen.
11Plans and Reports
- Thank you to the session scribes and workshops.
- Executive Team will be looking at the reports and
outcomes over the next few weeks.
12Hope to see you at UCSD/SDSC in six months!
