    December 2004
  • I taught English as a Second Language to students
    age 3 to 14
  • Korea was a fabulous place to live and there are
    a lot of things I miss.

  • I met a lot of fabulous people in Korea and I was
    also lucky to see a few familiar faces from home.

A familiar face
  • I was very lucky that six months after I moved to
    Korea, Brent, one of my best friends from Canada
    came to work for my school.

The Food!
  • I lived in an area of Korea famous for its food.
    But everywhere you go in Korea there is something
    very delicious to try.

  • Korea has many amazing kinds of food, including
    kimchi, the national dish
  • It is most often made using
  • Cabbage
  • Red Pepper Paste
  • A lot of salt or soy sauce!!!
  • Then it is buried in earthenware till it
    ferments. Mmmmmit is very delicious!

The Places and Landscape
  • Korea is a beautiful country. It is very
    mountainous, but also full of sprawling green
    rice fields, cherry trees and bustling cities.
  • Here are a few of my favorite pictures and the
    coolest place I visited, the Demilitarized Zone.

DMZ Joint Security Area
  • The DMZ is the heavily guarded border that
    divides South and North Korea
  • During my summer vacation I had the opportunity
    to travel to the Joint Security Area (JSA),
    which is inside the DMZ.
  • This building is half in the North and half in
    the South so that when having peace talks no one
    has to leave their own country.
