Environmental Problems

• Water sources clogged with man-made materials
• Animals affected by oil spills
• Red tides caused by nutrients from domestic waste
  which kill fish
• Dead zone caused by no oxygen in the sea

• Water-born diseases, e.g., hepatitis

• Contamination of seafood,

which is hazardous to human health. e.g., mercury
poisoning)

Socioeconomic problems

• Loss of fisheries
• Loss of amenity and tourist attractions

• Disruption of peoples livelihood

• Economic decline

How to help?

• Join an environmental group
• Use less water (e.g. dont have dripping taps)
• Use safer household chemicals (e.g. detergents)
• Reduce, recycle and reuse
