    CUTTERS (FOR FEDERAL AIDS AND PRIVATE AIDS) AND
    DWRO-BRIDGE ADMINISTRATION (FOR BRIDGES).
  • DEVELOP HIGH QUALITY AID VERIFIER RESOURCES IN
    SUFFICIENT NUMBERS NEEDED TO ACCOMPLISH THE AIDS
    TO NAVIGATION MISSION IN YOUR AOR.

CANDIDATES FOR AID VERIFIER QUALIFICATION

  • MUST BE A QUALIFIED MEMBER OF THE AUXILIARY AND
    HAVE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE BOATING SKILLS
    AND SEAMANSHIP (BSS) COURSE, BOATING SAFELY
    COURSE, AMERICAS BOATING COURSE OR HAVE
    EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE / TRAINING TO PASS THE AID
    VERIFIER QUALIFICATION EXAM
  • SHOULD THOROUGHLY UNDERSTAND THE AIDS TO
    NAVIGATION MATERIAL IN BSS
  • CHAPTER 5 "YOUR HIGHWAY SIGNS"
  • CHAPTER 12 "INLAND BOATING"
  • IS ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE IN AID VERIFICATION
    MISSIONS AS A TRAINEE
  • IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE BOAT CREW QUALIFIED
  • IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND ANNUAL OPERATIONS WORKSHOP

AID VERIFIER QUALIFICATION AND CERTIFICATION
  • AID VERIFIERS ARE CERTIFIED ONLY BY COAST GUARD
    ACTIVE DUTY PERSONNEL
  • USUALLY BY THE DIRECTOR OF AUXILIARY.
  • NAMES OF MEMBERS WHO HAVE BEEN TRAINED AND WHO
    ARE DEEMED AS BEING QUALIFIED TO PERFORM THE
    TASKS OF AN AID VERIFIER MAY BE SUBMITTED
  • NAMES SHOULD SUBMITTED THROUGH THE DSO-AN WHO
    WILL FORWARD TO THE DIRAUX. THIS PROCESS WILL
    ASSURE THAT THE MEMBERS AUXDATA RECORD AND
    PERSONAL FILE WILL BE UPDATED.
  • CANDIDATE MUST PASS THE AID VERIFIER
    QUALIFICATION EXAMINATION TO QUALIFY AS AN AID
    VERIFIER

  • ARE ASKED TO VOLUNTEER, EITHER INDIVIDUALLY OR AS
    A GROUP (e.g., FSO-AN REPRESENTING A FLOTILLA),
    FOR BEING RESPONSIBLE FOR PRIMARY MISSION
    COVERAGE
  • THE VERIFICATION OF PRIVATE AIDS AND BRIDGES
    WITHIN A SPECIFIC SECTION OF A RIVER IN THEIR
    DIVISION'S AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • HAVING COMMITTED TO AN AOR, ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR
    ASSURING THAT THE ANNUAL AID VERIFICATIONS ARE
    PERFORMED IN THAT AOR
  • ELSE THEY MUST NOTIFY THE SO-AN OR DSO-AN THAT
    THE DUTIES CANNOT BE PERFORMED. THIS
    NOTIFICATION MUST BE MADE IN SUFFICIENT TIME TO
    ALLOW REASSIGNMENT TO (AND TRAINING OF) ANOTHER
    AUXILIARY AID VERIFIER.
