WebPAC Pro helps libraries give great service!
3
The next generation in public catalogs
  • WebPAC Pro is a free upgrade from 2006 Web OPAC
  • After upgrading to 2006, you can go Pro by
    placing a service commitment request
  • Some new products will require you to be on the
    Pro platform
  • WebPAC Pro supports your existing customized
pages and web options (with a handful of little
    changes)

4
Why Pro?
  • The internet has changed a lot since we
introduced Web OPAC over a decade ago. Its time
for a new platform on which we can build for the
    innovations of today tomorrow.
  • Employing cutting edge technology
  • Better able to engage Web-savvy users
  • Poised to take advantage of emerging innovations
    in public access
  • In a position to better demonstrate the librarys
    value in the Web environment
  • Bringing the benefits of new Web technology to
    patrons

5
Release 2006
  • 19 new features in Web OPAC (also in WebPAC Pro)
  • 7 new features only in WebPAC Pro
  • 6 new WebPAC-related products which require Pro

6
RightResulteven better Advanced Keyword
  • The best results will appear first for keyword
    results.
  • More results can be returned, but with clearer
organization that helps patrons understand what
    theyve found
  • The library has control over the terminology used
to describe the groups of results

    suits your patrons.

Customizable record display feature

    bibliographic record display including variation
    by scope language
  • Emphasize what is most important to your patrons

Automatic login to My Millennium
  • Optionally the library can allow any
authentication to start a My Millennium session
    for the patron
  • When the catalog needs the user to log in - e.g.
when requesting or rating materials - it will
    prompt
  • After patrons log in once in a session, they
dont need to do it again to receive a
    personalized experience

16
Other 2006 WebPAC Pro features changes
  • WebBridge sites can now use the WEBADDRESS web
    option too
