4Conclusions
Main conclusions of the discussion From a
European policy perspective is the wealth/value
creation in the marine/maritime area an issue of
foresight. But in a sustainable way. Foresight
at the european level could function as an
umbrella for regional and national initiatives.
Both-and strategy (ForSociety could play a
central role here) - Regional level Here the
North Sea, the mediterrenian and the
Barents Sea could be candidates
5Conclusions
Much has already been done gt retrospective
foresight We recommend that we put a group
together (4-5 persons) which aim at - using
transnational science - creating new thinking
in this field new technology is
available Important question How to use the
retrospective material (foresight/knowledgebasis)
and new technologies in an optimal way?
6Conclusions
The future opportunities are greater than the
contemporary results. This should be shown in the
the public through newspaper, TV and
Media Innovation should be based on economic
growth and sustainability We want the BLUE
Europe! We should seek synergy with ongoing
projects and even contribute that ongoing efforts
use more forward thinking work methods.
7Conclusions
To stimulate EEZ governance and national
foresight studies of some European seas, such as
the North Sea, the Barents Sea and the
Mediterranian Sea, will be performed. Central
to these studies on ocean wealth creation and
sustainable use and management of the European
Seas would be studies at a European,
transnational and national scale.
