COMPONENTS OF FSBE

• Identification of different farming situations in
  which the crop/ commodity is grown
• Finding out the existing production practices
  followed by the farmers for each of the situation
• Identification of gap in adoption by comparing
  the farmers production practices with the
  research recommended practices
• Resynthesise the technological gap in
  adoption with the help of scientists
• Find the reasons for gap in adoption with the
  Resynthesise package as perceived by the farmers

PROCEDURES

• Step-I Conduct focused group discussions to
  understand in
• how many situations the crop/ commodity is
  grown in
• the village and the extent of area (in )
• Step-II Draw a two-way table taking any two
  deciding factors
• on x-y axis which will describe the
  situations keeping
• other factors constant
• Step III Consider those situations which are
  above 10 of
• the total area under cultivation

• Step IV For each of the selected situation
  conduct focused
• group discussion with the farmers who are
  having the
• situation
• Step V Identify the production practices followed
  by the
• farmers from land preparation to the harvest
  of the
• crop/commodity
• Step VI Identify the gap in adoption by comparing
  farmers
• practices ( EP) with the research recommended
• practices( RP )
• Step VII Resynthesise the technological gaps in
  adoption with
• the help of scientists in the group

• STEPVIII Compare the farmers practices with the
  Resynthesise package and identify the gap
• STEP IX For the identified gaps find reasons for
  gap in adoption and also the solutions as
  perceived by the
• farmers
• STEP X The reasons for gap in adoption will
  become the
• basis for developing strategies
