The manager of the hotel met me at the station He
had a sign and everything, it was his
occupation He drove me round the Katoomba sites
and attractions of exception And explained
everything in my hotel room with a keen eye for
detailed attention

He showed me how the light switch worked and how
to lock the door
He pointed out the lampshades hanging above the
floor

In detail explained the TV unit and the video
remote control He told me to eat the cookies in
the jar and the fruit in the bowl.
And last of all he stood beside a tiny round
table And here is the port wine decanter to help
you get unstable.

Thank you I said youre very kind but before you
explain the menu Youll have to excuse me for a
moment I have to use the loo
The train journey was long and the cup of tea was
quick And to honest I need to sit down Im still
feeling sick.

He looked so disappointed but he left me in a
rush He hadnt had the chance to give the
bathroom tour yet to show me how to flush. But by
a stroke of luck I worked it out all by myself I
even found the soup dispenser sitting on the
shelf.

Clearly he most impressed and assumed I had a
quick wit And despite having proved
myselfpressed on to explain the toilet.
