- ARTES (Advanced Research in Telecommunications
Systems) Programme constitutes the backbone of
the Telecommunications activities of ESA. - ARTES is a highly flexible Programme that allows
the implementation of RD activities with
different degrees of technical and commercial
maturity - ARTES is structured into Programme Lines, which
cover the main Strategic Areas of Satellite
Communications, and ARTES Elements, which
represent the legal and financial frames of the
Programme

9Start-up Initiative
- The Start-up Initiative is a special measure to
assist companies in getting their first contract
with ESA - A company can get only one contract within this
initiative - Proposals are submitted to ESA in response to a
special ITT, which leaves the product to be
defined by the bidder - Cost is limited to about 300kEURO
