Making Butter

• Settler families kept 1 dairy cow on their farm
  for making milk butter and bread. When pioneer
  women made butter they needed the dairy cows
  milk. The creamy portion of milk which rose from
  the top was skimmed off and put into a butter

Sewing

• In pioneer times the women sewed most of the
  family clothing. They did not have sewing
  machines and had to sew every thing with a needle
  and thread. Clothes were plain and practical.
  Sewing was a lot of work and took up a lot of
  time. For this reason pioneers didnt have a lot
  of clothing like us today.

Dinner time

• In pioneer times pioneers didnt have a fancy
  dinner every night at all. Usually pioneer
  settlers would have either eaten in the dark with
  a lantern on the table or eaten in the day time.
  Pioneer food was very different from what we eat
  today. Pioneers usually ate food like a lot of
  bread and vegetables from their gardens and
  thats how pioneers ate their dinner at night.

Chores

• In pioneer times chores werent just take the
  dog out and feed the horses. Chores were more
  like can you pick some berries then feed the pigs
  and horses. And chores went on and on and on.
  When it was time for supper pioneers would eat
  their supper and then the mother of the family
  would do the dishes and then the family would go
  to sleep.
