About the OSUM Community !!

• As the leading supporter (SUN Microsystem) of
  Free and Open Source software (FOSS) in the
  world, Sun has many efforts underway to educate
  the world (especially students), about the
  benefits of FOSS and how it is Changing (Y)our
  World.

Open Source University Meet up (OSUM) Program
Description

• Your OSUM is an on-campus community (club) that
  educates students about the importance of
  FOSS((Free Open source software)) and the latest
  Open Source technologies and communities
  supported by Sun.
• OSUMs provide students with training latest
  technologies in demand by the IT industry, access
  to resources to advance their careers and the
  opportunity to make friends through engaging and
  fun technology-based activities.
• We call it a "Meetup" because the nature of the
  open source world is community and collaboration.
• You are encouraged to "Meetup with existing
  student groups and share the benefits of Sun's
  open source technologies and student resources to
  create an even stronger open source community at
  your university.
• All OSUMs are connected to each other via a
  global online community that enables students to
  interact with other students passionate about
  FOSS at their university, in their country or
  around the world.

• Hands- on training via Tech Demos and Student
  Projects to learn technologies that can lead to

• The Sun Academic Initiative (SAI) offers
  non-profit educational institutions and students
  access to free web-based courses in the latest
  Java and Solaris technologies. SAI is one of the
  most important resource for OSUM members. We
  therefore, encourage OSUM leaders to provide
  their members with SAI program
• information.
• Benefits for the Student
• The initiative gives students around the world a
  competitive edge as they enter the workforce. It
  also helps to close the digital divide, or the
  gap between those who benefit from technology and
  those who do not. This is both a practical
  advantage for today's students and an investment
  in the future. Learning about Java directly from
  the source - the company that invented the
  technology puts students a step ahead as they
  prepare to enter the workforce.

How do I get started with

• 1. Complete the Request for SAI Program Name and
  ID at https//www2.sun.de/dct/forms/reg_xg_2009_
  803_0.jsp
• 2. By completing the form, you will be led to the
  SAI Program Name and ID page where you download
  the SAI Login Guide
• for your country.
• 3. Use the SAI Login Guide for your country to
  SELF REGISTER into the SAI Learning Connection
  the portal to the web
• courses.
• Once you complete the registration you will be
  allowed to access the courses for free.

• Use OSUM Leaders Group for questions, sharing
  best practices and resources
• Sign up for the OSUM Affiliate Program
• Develop OSUM Club leadership team

Java User Group ((JUG))

• Java User Groups (JUGs) are volunteer
  organizations that strive to distribute
  Java-related knowledge around the world. They
  provide a meeting place for Java users to get
  information, share resources and solutions,
  increase networking, expand Java Technology
  expertise, and above all, drink beer, eat pizza
  and have fun.
• There 160 Java user group arround the world , 3
  Egyptian Java User group (EGJUG,HellwanJUG and
  MUFIX-JUG)
• EGJUG Egyptian Java user group lead by Ahmed
  Hashim , 3 year experience and now they have Java
  Developer Conference event ((JDC))
