CSE 1105
  • Five undergraduate and graduate research
    assistantship positions are currently available
    for research and development work for a newly
    awarded grant in the Computer Science and
    Engineering Department.
  •  
  • The objective of this two year project is to
    provide assistance to Texans with disabilities
    through developing a communication infrastructure
    along with wireless portable computational
    devices.
  •

  • Specifically, we are looking for highly motivated
    students with interests in the following tools
    and paradigms
  •  
  • 1.         JSP, Tomcat, Java, SQL, XML, HTML,
    Flash, and networking protocols.
  •  
  • 2.         Pocket PC, Palm, and Symbian operating
    systems
  •  
  • 3.         Device drivers, PDA firmware, and
    hardware design.
  •  
  • Example tasks include Building prototypes,
    developing modules for intelligent agents,
    creating database interfaces, and designing user
    interfaces.
  •

  • Sophomores, juniors and seniors (not graduating
    before Dec. 2004) who are interested in graduate
    study culminating in the Ph.D (and a career in
    university teaching/research) may be eligible for
    the McNair program. The McNair program offers an
    array of services, including one summer of paid
    research with a faculty mentor, designed to
    prepare students for successful graduate study.
    Other eligibility requirements are applicants
    must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident,
    first-generation/low-income and/or
    underrepresented status, 2.8 cumulative GPA. Call
