Purpose of CAMHS Mapping

• To Improve Mental Health Services for Children
  and Young People by
• Providing accurate information on service
  provision against population size and deprivation
• Monitoring achievement of comprehensive CAMHS by
  Dec 2006
• Supporting Commissioners and Services to manage
• Supporting the development and implementation of
  the NSF for Children
• providing comparative data relating to service
  frameworks and delivery

Mapping Process

• Annual exercise from Nov to Feb yearly from 2002
• Primarily co-ordinated by NHS Trusts. Data
  provided by commissioners and providers tracks
  People, Spend Activity
• Questionnaires completed by managers, frontline
  staff commissioners (PCT LAs)
• Data transferred onto CAMHS Mapping website
  -Map usually available March/April

CAMHS in England Main Findings (2006/7)

• Shows large recorded increase in CAMHS funding
  from 2005/06 to 2006/07 (from 2.6 to 6.1
  billion).
• Total caseload for England was 108,618 reduction
  on last year
• Average spend per child in the London SHA region
  35.31 per 0-17 year old (Av. CAMHS budget per
  0-17 year old 37.37)

Skill-Mix - SWLSTG CAMHS versus National
Average (Nov 06)

• Skill-mix of the SWLSTG Service is similar to the
  national picture
• Lower percentage of PMHWs
• Higher percentage of CA Psychologists and
  Psychotherapists than national average

• The Trust Local and National Services
• Majority of referrals came from Primary Health
  Care, i.e. GPs (around 47).
• Serve an ethnically diverse population

• Overall the caseload has risen (by 28) the
  rise is even greater if cases where consultation
  is taking place is included.
