4Promoting membership
- Describe the benefits of SSCS membership 3 key
themes - Starting 2007, IEEE has a new grade for Graduate
Student Membership - The IEEEs GOLD program is designed to bridge the
world of student membership to professional
membership. GOLD stands for Graduates of the
Last Decade. All members who are lt 10 years
from their first degree (i.e Bachelors) are
automatically in the GOLD category. - Encourage chapters to connect with student
members and GOLD members as a source for future
leaders and contributors.
5SSCS Membership Challenges
- Society activities are valued as demonstrated by
increasing participation in conferences, journal
submissions, and chapter meetings. How to best
promote and continue this work? - With encouragement from SSCS President Dick
Jaeger, our AdCom has launched an initiative this
year to set goals and strategic directions.
Rakesh Kumar, SSCS Treasurer is leading this
team. - Focused questions include
- To what extent are geographic shifts contributing
to changes in membership? - What are the most important needs for existing
members? - How can we best foster continuing contributions
to the society? - What are the most important needs for potential
new members? - What new programs would be of value to future
members?
