About the SERTTC
  • NASA sponsors six regional technology transfer
    centers (RTTCs)
  • The Southeast RTTC is located at the Georgia Tech
  • The SERTTC covers a nine-state region
  • Each state is served by either a university
    or non-profit affiliate

SERTTC Mission
  • Promote the technology portfolio of NASA, with a
    heightened focus on the offerings of the three
    southeast Field Centers (Kennedy, Marshall, and
    Stennis)
  • The portfolio includes
  • Intellectual property
  • Lab resources
  • SBIR STTR Solicitations

Commercializing NASA Technologies
  • NASA has over 15,000 technologies in various
    stages of development, some of which have
    commercial potential http//technology.nasa.gov
  • NASA has technical expertise that can be tapped
    into for product development.
  • NASA is willing to fund (SBIR) the development of
    new technologies.

SBIR STTR Solicitations
  • In 2002 NASA made 295 SBIR STTR Phase I Awards
    totaling 21.3 million.
  • Only four of these were to Georgia companies,
    despite the state being in the top 10 in both
    high-tech employment VC funding.
