Software update - 1

• Shut down the BPS display
• Connect a null-modem cable between your laptop
  and the display unit software update connector
• Start terminal software in the laptop
  (recommended Tera Term Pro)
• baudrate 38400
• 8 bits
• No parity
• 1 stop bit
• No handshaking
• Start up the BPS system

• When you see the prompt core login on the
  terminal screen, type root, and press Enter.
  You are now logging in, there is no password
• Download the new program file
• Tera Termi File menu
• Transfer -gt ZMODEM -gt Send
• Pick now the new file (named for example
  bps132)
• Program files are named as bpsXXX, where XXX
  version number, for example v1.32 bps132
• When the download ends, enter command chmod ax
  bpsXXX
• bpsXXX the name of the new program file
• In some occasions, like using Hyperterminal, name
  of the file can change in to upper case or .bin
  or .BIN could be added to the name of file.
  Command ls can be used to see files in display
  and command mv to move files to different name.
  E.g. mv BPS123.BIN bps123
• Enter the following commands
• cd bin
• rm dm
• ln -s ../bpsXXX dm
• Turn off the BPS system, restart, and the new
  software should now start up...

• Creating a new file
• Download the rinfo.txt file from the BPS web
  site
• Open the rinfo.txt file with a text editor (for
  example, Notepad)
• Edit the fields as desired
• Save file (remember to keep the filename!)
• Downloading new file
• Connect null-modem cable to the programming port,
  open terminal software (use same settings as in
  software update)
• Log in as root
• Remove old data file named rinfo.txt (rm
  rinfo.txt)
• Download new info file
