1Criterion 1Understand how a market-based
economic system operates
- Focuses on the education of supply and demand,
competition, pricing or the global economy - Popular projects include teaching school
children economics lessons (e.g., pricing
principles, exchange rates, credit, loans,
checking accounts, off-campus living, area
development, assembly line strategies, Sim games,
countries with competitive advantages, etc.) and
teaching people in other countries how to market
their goods. - Additionally, one might suggest that improving a
countrys productivity (e.g., Nothing but Nets)
falls meets this criterion, because it improves
the countrys productive or supply power.
2Criterion 2Acquire the education and skill
training needed to succeed in a dynamic,
competitive global economy
- Focuses on the education of K-12 and college
students (i.e., seminars, competitions and
projects) about the global economy - This could include education of the Internet
trading, agents and manufacturing
representatives, exchange rates, travel,
passports, foreign customs, trade legislation,
etc.)
3Criterion 3 Learn how to succeed as an
entrepreneur and/or improve an existing business
- All our small business support/consulting
projects fall into this criterion including the
incubation of companies. - Additionally, this criterion includes helping a
foreign population market their goods or the
starting of campus businesses to raise money. - For example, starting Carolina Elder Care,
starting an on-line cake business for student
birthdays or starting Christian radio station to
raise money and educate (ties in with other
categories).
4Criterion 4 Develop the personal financial
management skills necessary to achieve financial
independence
- This area involves educating various populations
on ways to ensure financial independence (e.g.,
IRAs, stocks and bonds, mutual funds, retirement
planning, scam education). - This is most easily done through seminars,
newsletters, competitive events or a poster
campaign (potty talk).
5Criterion 5 Help develop environmentally
sustainable personal and business decisions
- This area involves educating various populations
on ways to protect the environments resources
(e.g., recycling, energy conservation, etc.)
6Criterion 6Understand that the long-term
success and prosperity of a market economy,
businesses and individuals are dependent on
ethical business practices.
- Generally, this is accomplished with educational
seminars, case studies (ad and accounting fraud),
and or debates. - For example, one could schedule convo speakers or
the presentation of ethical debates by a college
society or philosophy class.
7Criterion 7How successfully did the team
develop and execute a strategy to ensure the
long-term sustainability of their team and
educational programs
- What actions would insure sustainability?
