• The order or sequence or direction does not matter

• Counting all objects in a group, regardless of
  arrangement, starting with one and ending with
  the total number in the group.

• Being able to recognize a group as representing a
  number and continuing on to count an additional
  group.
• Ex.)
• Student would recognize 5 in the first group and
  would say six, seven, eight, nine
