Submitting a ROGS application
  • Recognise differences from Safety Case
  • Much more about managing your own risks and being
    held accountable through your SMS.
  • Work with HMRI local Inspector
  • Involve from day one.
  • Read assessment criteria, and -
  • Match documentation to criteria
  • Dont 2nd guess what you think is wanted, its
    simpler than you think.

5
The Documents
  • Use existing template - it was developed as close
    to generic as possible, but
  • Dont just replace Company X by your Company.
  • Share best practice and experience.
  • Use diagrams rather than text where possible.
  • Ensure you have a clear understanding of the
differences between parts A and B.
  • Constantly cross reference to your SMS to avoid
    duplication.

6
Consultation
  • Involve Trades Union representatives.
  • Put final documents on a website.
  • Advise interested parties by email of the link.

7
The future
  • The focus is now on managing risk not managing
    the paperwork.
  • If changes kept within your SMS generally no need
    for a new Certificate.
  • e.g. Gatwick Express becoming part of Southern is
defined as a major change not a re-issue.
