3Downloading the Software
- Download the software on your home computer by
going to www.hawkeslearning.com, clicking on
Downloads, and then selecting Precalculus
under products. When prompted to enter a Course
ID, please enter CBCPRC
4- On your computer at home, when you first install
the software, youll be asked to enter the course
ID. Your course ID is
5CBCPRC
- So, when you see
- on your screen, just fill in the box with
- CBCPRC
- This is automatically done for you in the labs at
school - So, at school, all you will ever need to enter is
your Access Code!
6Purchasing an Access Code
- Once software is installed on your computer, go
back to www.hawkeslearning.com and purchase an
access code by doing the following - Note You will need a credit card or money order
to purchase the Access Code from our website. - Go to www.hawkeslearning.com
- In center of page, under section labeled
Students, click Get Your Access Code. - Next, under the section labeled I Do Not Have a
License Number, click on Purchase An Access
Code Online. - Under the drop down menu for titles, select
Precalculus. - Next, follow the next three (3) steps (entering
payment info, etc) - Please make sure you complete all three steps!!!
You will know you have completed all three when
your access code pops up on the page. Should you
close out before all steps are completed, your
credit card may get charged without you receiving
an access code. Should this happen, please call
our Accounts office - at 1-800-426-9538.
7Click on Purchase an Access Code onlineOnce
you follow the 3 steps (mentioned on previous
slide) your access code will be sent to you
immediately.
8Using the Software
- Double click on the purple diamond
- icon on the desktop to open the software.
- Type or paste your access code in the box
provided. The first time you enter your code,
you will be prompted to save it. Insert a USB
flash drive or a floppy disk and save your code
to the appropriate removable drive.
9If you are working on a computer with an internet
connection, you will be asked to enroll in your
instructors gradebook by choosing their name and
section.
10When you first enter the software, you will be
taken to the Table of Contents
11Each lesson has Instruct, Practice, and Certify
modes.
12InstructClick on the Instruct button for access
to narration, example problems and definitions.
Audio Option and Video Clips
13PracticeClick on the Practice button for
unlimited practice problems. You can choose the
level of difficulty and get help from our
Interactive Tutor.

14You can enter answers containing symbols such as
exponents and fractions by using our keypad
(located either at the top left or right hand
side of the screen).

15The fraction and exponent keys are in the bottom
left of the keypad. You can also often enter
mathematical symbols by using the shortcuts on
your computers keyboard.
16In the Practice section, click on the Tutor
button at the bottom of the page for Step-by-Step
help with problems and entire worked-out
solutions.
17CertifyClick on the Certify button to complete
your homework certification. Each certification
is a mastery-level assignment.
18- A mastery level assignment means that
- You are allowed to miss a certain number of
questions and still pass. You must get about 80
of the problems correct. - If you miss more than the allowed number of
questions, you must start over and try a new
assignment. - There is no penalty for having to start over. You
should go back to Instruct and Practice to go
over the material again. - When you do complete the assignment, your grade
is 100. (Make sure its on time - your
instructor might assign late penalties!) If you
dont master an assignment, you receive a zero
for that assignment. (Think of it as an A for
effort!)
19Getting Your Certification To Your Instructor
- If you are in the lab at school when you master
an assignment, your certification code will be
sent automatically to your instructors grade
book. - If you are at home and have an internet
connection, then your certification code will be
sent automatically to your instructors
gradebook. -
- If you do not have an internet connection at
home, you will need to save your certification
code and submit it next time you have internet
access (directions to follow).
20Submitting Certification Codes when no Internet
access at home-Insert USB Flash Drive and click
Save button. Save to Removable Device
OR-Click Print Next time you have internet
access you can upload your certificate by
entering the software, clicking on Progress
Report, and then clicking on Submit
Certificate.From here, you have the choice to
Upload the certificate from your USB device or
manually enter it by typing or cut/paste.

21Progress ReportYour progress report tells you
the due dates for your Hawkes Learning Systems
assignments, as well as shows you when you have
registered them successfully in your instructors
gradebook.
Instructor may post syllabus, web links, etc.
Under Course Materials
22- Check the Status column to see if your
certification is registered in your instructors
gradebook. A green check means On Time, a yellow
check is Late and a red x means past due.
23Caution
- You must register your certificate in your
instructors gradebook ON or BEFORE the due date
to get full credit for the assignment. - (Your instructor may assign late penalties.)
24Practice TestYou also have the ability to
create your own practice tests using the
software. Simply click on the WebTest button on
your Table of Contents screen.
Practice Test
25To create your own practice test, first click the
Take Test button and then select Practice
Test from the menu that appears.
26Assigned TestTo take a test assigned by your
instructor, choose Assigned Test from the menu
and click OK.

Note Students will only be allowed to access an
Assigned Test on the date/time designated by
the instructor and/or if they have the proper
password.
27Taking an Assigned Test
- Once you have started an assigned test, you can
only end it by clicking End Test. Once you
have chosen to do this, your test will
immediately be scored and sent to your
instructor. Once this is done, you can not open
it again (unless your instructor has set the test
to allow multiple attempts). - Reviewing Test If your instructor has set
permissions, you may be able to review your test
once you have finished. If the test is set to
allow a review, you will be asked Would You Like
To Review Your Test?. Click Yes and your test
will be opened. All problems that were incorrect
will be hi-lighted in red. You can click on each
question to receive an explanation of your error,
the proper solution, and a link to Practice.
