• further the institutions progress toward
  accomplishing its mission
• provide basis for campus dialogue and problem
  solving

• What does a new Provost Need to know to provide
  effective leadership?
• Useful construct or foil even if continuing
  leadership

So, Why Candor?

• Honesty the Best Policy
• Right thing to do
• Etc. etc.
• But actually because it is the only thing that
  makes the time consuming exercise productive and
  internally useful.
