2Introduction
The RCA is an intergovernmental agreement for
East Asia Pacific Region to promote and
co-ordinate co-operative RD and training
projects in nuclear science and technology.
3Establishment of RCARO
- RCA Regional Office (RCARO) was declared open at
the Nuclear Training Centre Building of Korea
Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) in
Daejeon, Republic of Korea on 27th March 2002
4Mandate of RCARO
- 1. To increase RCA visibility Increasing the
RCA awareness - 2. To promote RCA viability
- Promoting RCA partnership

5 OBJECTIVE OF RCA SUCCESS STORIES
- To attract significant donors and other sources
of funding to the RCA programme, to ensure its
sustainability, on identifying, compiling and
preparing its achievements in the form of
interesting and well presented success stories. - To demonstrate that RCA has the resources,
capability, knowledge and ability to address and
contribute to the solution of problems in the
region that are having a socio-economic impact.
6 OBJECTIVE OF RCA SUCCESS STORIES
- To deliver the message about what the RCA has to
offer. - To earn recognition as a regional resource
community in Nuclear Science and Technology
capable of providing high impact solutions to
development problems in the region.
7 Background of the Assignment
- RCARO has published two batches of
Success Stories - In first batch Five Success Stories were
published in 2007 - In second batch Four Success Stories were
published in 2009
8 Current status
- 2007 - Five success stories
- 2008 - Four success stories
- Proposed 4 drafts of success stories to be
published in third batch

- The RCA FP proposed the following set for

13Procedure for 3rd Batch of SSs
- The RCA FP proposed the following procedure for
third batch of SSs - First draft by PLCC
- Circulation to the Members of the SAC for
comments - Revision by RCARO based on the comments and
submission to the editor - Submission of the edited version to an NRs
Meeting for approval. - Revision based on the comments of the NRs
- Final Review by PLCC and the editor

- A Questionnaire was issued in 2008 enquiring the

RCARO should request NRs to disseminate these
stories to Potential Customers/Ultimate Partners
through these stakeholders

Only 6 MSs responded
17Analysis of the Results
- Results are not reliable as it is from a very
small group of stakeholders (who are already a
part of RCA) - Not many response from end users
- Response ratio is very low, however the overall
survey shows that the respondents gave a
favorable view on the RCA Success Stories.

19Recommendations
- The evaluation carried out so far is contents
focused. The Management of publication should be
evaluated alongwith the contents of the
publication. - Rearrangement of past stories is recommended with
some additional information as per the proposed
plan
