Query Overview

• The Query Atom found in the Utility Folder
  enables you to search from four data files at
  once to extract information from the SASIxp
  database.
• Use the Query Atom to
• Display or save the data produced by the query
• Save the query statement
• Print data in a matrix, in a report or on labels
• Create a total number of records that match
  specific criteria
• Create filters
• Export SASIxp data to another application
• Mass change data for multiple records

Query Form

Display Command

• Displays records that match your query criteria.
• ASTU LN, FN GR Ethnic Code IF Grade 03
• This query will display all 3rd graders.

Saving the Query

• Construct the statement and display the results.
• From the Query Menu select Save the Query Data.
• The atom will display on the workspace.

• Display the Query Statement
• From the Query Menu select Save the Query.
• The atom information window displays.
• Change name of atom, save query to your desktop

Print Command

• Select Print from the command field
• Construct a query statement
• Enter the sort condition in front of the field on
  which you would like to sort
• Adjust column widths
• Select Preview or Print

Print Data from a Matrix

• Any matrix produced from a query can be printed
  using the Print function on the File Menu
• Select File, Print, Select Print Expanded Table
• Print the Matrix

Labels

• The Labels command in Query allows for custom
  print different from the label formats provided
  in SASIxp
• Special Groups i.e. Honor Roll Students,
• Labels for equipment, books, folders

Total Command

• Simply displays the Total of Records that match
  your search criteria

Skip Filters

• Any statement can be saved as a Filter
• Filters screen data so that only the records that
  meet filter criteria are available.
• Skip Filters exclude data from your query
  statement such as Skip all 12th graders.

Keep Command - Filters

• Keep Command will display records written in
  query statement.
• The statement is saved as a filter and placed in
  the System Folder.

Export Command

• This command allows you to export query results
  to a file on your desktop for use with a
  spreadsheet, word processor or 3rd party
  application such as transportation or library
  systems
• The Export button replaces the Do button

Change Command

• Must have Security rights to process any changes
  to SASIxp
• Any time you make mass changes to your database
  always have a backup.
• Mass Change Teacher Atom Years of Experience
  years of Exp1
• User Atom Change year to reflect active year

Drag and Drop Q uery

• You can Display Print Mass Change for Multiple
  Records in a Matrix List or in a Data atom
• Use the Display Command and the 0 variable.

Creating a Drag Drop Query

• Write a query statement using the 0 variable and
  an ID link field
• Such as Student ID, Stulink,UserID, UserLink,
  SectionID, ClassLink
• Example Display ASTU Counselor IF Stulink 0

• Create a matrix of students from the Generic
  Selection atom Utilities Folder
• Select Student(s)/Groups and create a data atom
• Drag the Data Atom onto the Drag Drop Query

• Hold down shift key, select students and create a
  data atom
