The Dark Ages
  • Dark stones against the blue sky.
  • Dark ages against eternity.
  • Dark secrets buried in the walls.
  • Dark times gave way to our life of ease.
  • Do we appreciate it?

The Draw-Bridge
  • The cry went up
  • From the sentry aloft,
  • Army comes from a-west
  • The men seized arms
  • Whilst women ushered frightened children up to
the keep, now their home, a wind swept fortress.
  • The draw-bridge closed the armoured curtain,
cut-off the world, and ensured life for a month
    at least.

Do you hear it?

  • The cry from long go
  • Embalmed in rock and stone.
  • A fossil of sound, a shout to a world intent on
    war and death and killing.
  • A cry of life to those who hear it.
