What is it?
  • An upgrade to PeopleSoft version 8.9 for SA/HR
  • Admissions
  • Registration
  • Financial Aid / Cashiers Office
  • Training Solutions / Job Training
  • Payroll
  • Human Resources / Job Placement
  • The Foundation at GRCC

When?
  • Functional leaders from affected areas, including
    the CWIS Leadership Team, have been meeting to
    identify related upgrade issues, evaluate impact,
    and determine project timeframe
  • Additional meetings with VPs/CLC/Deans and others
    to clarify issues and concerns
  • Collective decision has been made to begin the
    upgrade for a March 25, 2006 Go Live!

Why now?
  • Provides functionality upgrades that are the
    foundational building blocks to support strategic
    initiatives, including
  • Improving Student Experience through Self-Service
    ? Student Success
  • Training Solutions courses and programs
  • Expanded Self-Service for all users
  • Open Door Campaign included
  • Upgrading PS Financials starting in the fall 2006

Timeline
  • December 2005-January 2006
  • Existing production database sent away for
    conversion
  • Result becomes our test system so that we can
    test with GRCC data
  • February March 2006
  • Testing, testing and more testing including
    tests of full system and its impact on students
    and employees
  • Validating output
  • Training and support
  • GO LIVE! over the weekend of March 25, 2006

Whats different this time?
  • Outside help from CampusWorks and PeopleSoft are
    now engaged and more will be added as needs are
    identified
  • Design will be frozen early enough for full
    communications to students, staff, and faculty to
    be effective
  • GRCC is not an early adopter weve waited
    enough time for the version 8.9 to settle down
  • Full version testing

What you can expect
  • Outside resources brought in to complement
    internal staff fix chronic PS problems (e.g.,
    HR, eGRCC), share what worked/lessons learned
    from other schools, off-load work so that
    training and testing can be accomplished by GRCC
    staff
  • Learn how to make system upgrading a regular
    process at GRCC, by learning from experiences of
    past upgrades and by building institutional
    capacity
  • Information shared at College Connection
    meetings, GRCC_Today updates, and through project
    website (beginning January 2006)
  • Training opportunities through the Learning
    Academy
  • Special, targeted communications to employee /
    student
  • Expect to be involved!
