  • To prepare all 8th grade students for the
    Terra-Nova Writing Assessment

? What is the Writing Assessment
  • It is a performance-based test administered to
    4th, 8th, and 11th graders to assess progress
    toward achieving Tennessee Goals and Standards.
  • Students write an essay on an assigned topic
    within an allotted time frame.

Scoring
  • 35 minute test on supplied sheet paper
  • Score of 6 - Outstanding
  • Score of 5 - Strong
  • Score of 4 - Competent
  • Score of 3 - Limited
  • Score of 2 - Flawed
  • Score of 1 - Deficient

Writing Workshop Info.
  • All students must keep a writing journal or
    folder for the entire week.
  • Grades will be given in regards to materials
    completed in folder and on daily behavior.
  • Awards will be given at completion of the
    workshop.

Behavior
  • Due to number, size, and time limitations, ALL
    students MUST be on their best behavior at all
    times!
  • Daily checks will be recorded and will affect
    your grade.
  • Students who are not cooperative WILL be sent to
    the office to complete their activities alone.
