What is Humanities?

• It is the study of the world as a whole
  including society, morality, history and
  self-realization.
• It helps students be aware of the world around
  them that is, was, and shall be to come so that
  they may adjust, and prepare themselves for the
  many challenges that await them in life.

An Example of How Humanities Can Help YOU...

• It can prepare you for a career dealing with a
  social, or financial environment (i.e. Commerce,
  Law Society, Psychology, Child Studies, etc.).
• With Humanities, you will be able to build up
  your career, focus your life, minimize
  frustration, and most importantly, be able to
  work as part of an effective team.

Humanities and Skills Development

• Humanities is a fundamental process through which
  one must proceed in order to be able to cope,
  create, and excel in a career in just about any
  field of education and work.
• Humanities also helps one understand environments
  more easily, such as multi-culturalismone of the
  main reasons why Montréal is famous!

What Specific Skills Will You Learn As Part of
Humanities?

• Everything from the creation of medicines, the
  discussions of art, music, and literature of
  different cultures, to the understanding of moral
  ethics in society as a whole.
• These and many more subjects will help students
  develop unlimited potential abilities for the
  world, the question is how will they proceed?

Requirements to Proceed in Humanities

• Students must complete two (2) Block A courses
  which discuss Knowledge and World Views.
• Students must then take the final Block B
  course necessary to complete their training.
• These courses must all have passing marks in
  order to graduate from Vanier College.
