What is GATE/Accelerated

• Gifted and Talented Education or Accelerated
  Education
• The purpose of the GATE program and the
  Accelerated program is to offer enriched and
  Challenging learning opportunities to meet the
  particular abilities and talents of academically
  gifted students.

• CST (California Standards Test)
• ADVANCED Language Arts
• 4th grade 393-600
• 5th grade 395-600
• EOC (End of Course Exams)
• 95 or higher on Language Art Multiple Choice
• 4 or 5 on District Writing Prompt
• Raven test 95 or higher
• Teacher Recommendation
• Independent Worker
• Good Character Counts?

Do students Automatically Roll Over?

• NO, But
• We always will look at the child first and if
  they are currently in the program.
• Next we will review past test scores if it comes
  down to placement.
• We will notify parents of placement over the
  summer 09-10 school year.
• New students to the district and previous
  identification.

Money and Programs

• 2500.00 GATE Funds for 4/5th grade students.
• Yes You Can Draw Art Program k-5 paid out of
  Block Grant (once a month).
• Field trip opportunities as a group.
• Odyssey of the Minds.
• Extracurricular challenges/activities.
