    environment/dryland issues

    Intervention sustainable management of
    catchments to ensure water and energy services
    are provided for the economy and to support
    peoples livelihoods.

    and natural resources and reduction of corruption
    in NR Sectors.

    in rural areas
  • Intervention on increasing livelihood/employment

    benefits from wild life, forest and fisheries to

    operation guidance for mainstreaming at the local
    and sect oral level
  • How to show impacts?

  • Process is important as the final product
  • Strong national group of stakeholders leading to
    champion environment
  • Poverty and Environment has two directions
  • Make economist, planners and central policy
    makers understand why environment matters e.g.
    Kenya organized a tour for Treasury staff
    including head of PRSP secretariat.

    the importance of PRS, budget.
  • Analytical work on the links between poverty and
    environment/dryland, including contribution to
    growth, public expenditure reviews, the
    environment and vulnerability studies from the
    participatory poverty processes

  • Partners can make a contribution
