An Amphibian is...
  • An amphibian is an animal with moist, hairless
    skin which water can pass in and out.
  • Almost all amphibians live the first part of
    their life in water and the second part on land.

Three Main Groups of Amphibians
  • Tailed Amphibians- includes the sirens,
    salamanders, and newts (top,left,and right).
  • Tailless Amphibians includes frogs and toads
    (bottom left).
  • Wormlike Amphibians includes the caecilians
    (bottom right).

Where Do Amphibians live?
  • Amphibians live in many environments, including
    grasslands, rain forests, conifer forests, alpine
    areas, and deserts.
  • Some require freshwater habitats such as ponds,
    swamps, streams, and other wet environments.
