38- 9. The Unions Objectives and Strategic Plan
39- The Union Objectives 2007/08
- Develop a diversity policy with targets set in
key areas to measure how inclusive we are as an
organisation in relation to the student
demographic at Oxford Brookes University. - Promote the Unions services and extend
visibility across campuses so that at each campus
there are information points and at least one Go
Out And Listen (GOAL) day per month and an
increase in the number of candidates and voters
in the elections for the Executive Committee in
2008. - Conduct a review of financial procedures and
practice to include management accounts, budgets
and reserves policy. - Work with NUS to make OBSU campaigns more
effective so that by the end of the year 30 of
members will be able to identify an OBSU campaign
and will recognise the role of NUS. - Organise a Summer Ball
- Show an improvement in Union performance leading
to an 80 overall satisfaction rating from
students in the 2009 survey and work towards at
least one externally accredited award in each
area of Membership Services (e.g. IiV),
Commercial Services (e.g. Sound impact) and
Support Services (e.g. IiP) and achieve at least
one Union-wide award by the end of 2008.
40The Union Strategic Plan
- Be an independently registered charity which
conforms to Good Governance Standard - Show an improvement in performance leading to a
80 overall satisfaction rating from students - Align the development of the Unions managers
with the changing culture of the organisation. - Develop and cluster together all student facing
Membership Services (Advice Centre, Stax and
other volunteering, job shop) - Be better value for money with clarification of
role and location of the Unions trading services
in relation to the universitys services - Have a mechanism for measuring the impact of what
we do on students. How do we measure the impact
of what we do on students? Has it made a
difference? How do we know? - Achieve IIP new standard Level 2
- Be in the top 20 of Unions involved in the Kent
Commissioned SUMS bench marking exercise and/or
Students Union Evaluation Initiative or other
similar bench marking exercises
By 2010 OBSU will
