Our Tanes Korero

• This is the first time for me being in here. We
  need to install it into our young. Man this is
  the first time I have been to a heart thing.
• I went to the urupa and all the fullas I used
  to be a little kid with, well their headstones
  are there. Man I am nearly that age now. You go
  into cemeteries and all you see is your whanau
  who have died early.
• The poster boy . It does inspire me a bit. But
  not enough. What inspires me is that there are
  no kaumatua on the taumata. It is one of the
  biggest pressures of being younger Maori male,
  and it keeps us away from the marae.

• Most of our men all work 8-5 when are we going
  to see a GP?
• The doctor says this, this, this and then here
  is the prescriptions. It is the way the Doctor
  communicates. Why not give me a WOF. Say liver
  ...tick, heart ....tick, Sugars....Cross. Just
  you know improve the way of communication.
• One Tane had both a Dr and a Nurse explain his
  condition and they both gave it differently.
  Still took him 2yrs to accept but when the nurse
  gave her explanation it gave more of a light
  going on.
