What is a Mentoring Program
  • It consists of assigning an active, knowledgeable
    Mason to each new Candidate
  • The Mentor acts as an advisor, educator
    companion for a period of at least one year
  • Expectation is to create an active, educated
    working lodge member

Why do we need a Mentor Program
  • Membership
  • 1980 4 Million Masons in North America
  • 2003 1.7 Million Masons In North America

  • 1979 941,000 Shriners
  • 2003 480,000 Shriners
  • 2025 40,000 Shriners???

Mentoring helps Retain Members
  • Today we lose too many Masons that have been
    members for 3 to 5 years
  • Mentoring should help retain these members by
    providing meaningful relationships,
    communication, education, fellowship and
    entertainment.

What a Mentor should be
  • Experienced knowledgeable about Masonry
  • One who is respected by his colleagues
  • One who listens, supports and communicates
    effectively with others
  • One who will maintain contact with the new member
    his family, keep him informed about Masonic
    activities encourage him to get INVOLVED.

  • Monitor the Candidates proficiency progress
  • Attend Stated Meetings
  • Attend degree work
  • Visit another lodge
  • Take a part in degree work
