The European Computer Driving License is an
internationally recognised IT qualification aimed
at all desktop PC users. It is the basic
Information Technology skills standard for NHS
Wales, and overseen by Informing Healthcare
3What is Informing Healthcare?
- Informing Healthcare is a Welsh Assembly
Government strategy to modernise healthcare in
Wales over the next ten years, supported by
investment in Information and ICT.
4Informing Healthcare and ECDL
- An Access to Learning project is being conducted
within Informing Healthcare which is overseeing
the expansion of the ECDL qualification - The Access to Learning project will also develop
education and training for all staff in health
informatics and improve professional development

5ECDL IN BRIEF
- Internationally recognised computer skills
qualification in PC competence - Free to all Health Services Staff
- Flexible approach Up to 3 years, from
registering passport - 7 modules, covering core computer user
competencies - Modules can be taken in any order
- 7 x 45min timed tests (1 per module)
- Candidates can re-sit tests
