28Establishment of CRL Asia Research Cener
- CRL Asia Research Center (CRL/ARC)
- Established on 1st October 2003
- Headquarters locate in Thailand
- There are two laboratories at the moment. They
are - Thai Computational Linguistics Laboratory
(Thailand) - Wireless Communications Laboratory (Singapore)
- CRL/ARCs roles are-
- To promote collaborative research and development
with Asian organisations, such as national
institutes, universities and private companies. - To research on information and communications
technologies aiming at development of Asian
standardisation and international collaboration. - To contribute to international standardisation
interest to the Asia region. - To gather highly qualified and talented
researchers in the region.
29Major Activities of CRL/ARC
- Inauguration Ceremony on 30th April2003, at
Thailand Science Park - Visit to Find Potential Partners in various
countries, such as Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia,
Singapore, Vietnam, India. - Holding Conferences
- The 1st International Workshop on Networking
Technology (IWNT2003) - On 17th to 18th December 2003, at Bangkok,
Thailand - Number of Participants was 87 from 14
Asia-Pacific countries. - The 5th Asia-Pacific Seminar on Next Generation
Mobile Communication (AP-NeGeMo 04) - From 16th to 20th February 2004, at Hanoi(16th),
Kuala Lumpur(18th) and Bangkok(20th) - Organised by each countries institutions, under
the co-sponsorship of CRL, YRP RD Promotion
Committee, and Yokosuka Telecom Research Park,
Inc., Japan. - Agreements for Collaboration
- Promote collaboration by exchanging memorandum of
agreements for collaboration between King
Mongkuts Institute of Technology Ladkrabang
(KMITL) in Thailand, Asian Institute of
Technology (AIT) in Thailand, Institute of
