UUK Code of Practice for Student Housing
Background
  • Concerns identified by AUDE, ASRA and CUBO with
    regards to implementation of the Code from their
    membership
  • Proposals developed May 2007
  • Meeting held with CUBO/AUDE/ASRA/UUK
  • Governance Board meeting 13th July 2007 for
    approval at which the key principles were agreed
    but further work required to understand the
    detail.

  • First annual report formally received by DCLG
  • UUK appointment of CUBO for administration of the
    CoP
  • Annual Cycle for the UUK/Guild HE Code
  • New establishment registration process

  • Draft audit guidelines approved to go out for
    consultation
  • Draft budget and fee level of 30p per bedspace or
    100 minimum fee
  • Revised Sector Advisory Group membership

Role of the Administrators
  • Maintenance of full and accurate public record of
    registered institutions
  • Collation of institutions from the relevant
    section of auditor's reports, including
    management response and the timescales for
    addressing auditors' recommendations
  • Collation of institutions significant anonymised
    complaints by students
  • Administration of the Advisory Group and
    Governance Board, including the setting of the
    meetings, communication of agenda, minutes and
    papers
  • The drafting of the UUK/Guild HE annual report
  • Promotion of the CoP to registered institutions
  • Financial accounts for all income and expenditure

  • This year we are doing everything for the first
    time so please bear with us we (SAG) are still
    learning and there will be issues to be dealt
    with
  • We are setting up new systems and processes with
    a view to making then sustainable, open and
    transparent
  • We need your help by submitting information to
    the administrator when needed
  • We need lots of feedback to ensure we provide a
    good service
  • We have external deadlines to meet that cannot be
    moved
