• 1997 Idea for setting up a visitor centre was
  discussed in a Jurva local authority development
  seminar

• 1997 preliminary study about a centre that would
  serve the local furniture industry was arranged
  by Jurva municipality
• ? LEADER PROJECT STARTS THE PROCESS
• 1998 Jurvan Nikkarikeskus project by the Jurva
  municipality and interested companies

• 1999 Jurva gets Polytechnic adding furniture

The start of the 21st centuryOnwards to a
national centre of expertise

• 2002 Professorship (prof. Martti Lindman) in
  concept management for the furniture industry is
  established
• 2003 Furniture Industry concept and usability
  laboratories starts (Dr. Vuokko Takala-Schreib)
• The sector group in the regional centre program
  commences its functions in 2002 and the
  coordinators (Anne Viitala) work begins
• In cooperation with the centre of expertise
  program sector group of the region of
  Päijät-Häme, the aim of establishing Finlands
  Furniture Industry Centre was founded. 2005 start
