The 5 INSAs A network of engineering schools of
international dimension
INSA Rennes was founded in 1966
The 5 institutes train around 10 of all graduate
engineers in France every year.
INSA Strasbourg was founded in 2003
INSA Lyon was founded in 1957. It is currently
ranked as one of the best schools of engineering
in France
Rouen
Rennes
Strasbourg
INSA Rouen was founded in 1985
Lyon
Toulouse
INSA Toulouse was founded in 1961
3
The 5 INSAs facts and figures
  • 9700 full time engineering students, with around
1600 graduate engineers each year (half from INSA
    Lyon)
  • Close to 1300 doctoral students (3rd cycle)
  • 36 different specialisation
  • Close to 1000 faculty members for teaching and
    research
  • 64 research laboratories, working in very close
relationships with industries and the public
    sector

4
INSAs Education system for Engineers
  • A five year comprehensive programme in science,
    technology and humanities

Objectives of INSAs Foundation Course
  • Provide students with a solid and wide basis in
science and technology preparing them to any of
    INSAs specialisation course
  • Teach students both know-how's and methods
  • Allow students to develop their personalities
(25 of courses are in humanities or sports,
    numerous student associations)
  • Train open-minded, innovative, and readily
    adapting engineers.

7
EURINSAs specific objectives
  • Make students more familiar (in practice, not
just words) with European cultures and thereby
    capable of understanding multiculturalism
  • Train engineers in three languages (mother tongue
    French English other optional languages)
  • Give students an early, mind-opening professional
    experience abroad
  • Stimulate students autonomy, capacity of
innovation, and adaptability to a fast changing
    world.
