EXAM PROGRAMME

• The exam will be oral and in English. The
  students should be able to talk about the main
  characteristics of specialized discourse at the
  textual, syntactic and terminological levels
  (see Gotti 2005). They should also apply these
  concepts to analyse and translate (from English
  into Italian) a representative selection of
  texts from the 5 following domains the
  international press, institutional and social
  communication, scientific and technical writing,
  tourism, academic discourse (see Dossier). They
  should be aware of the main issues in translating
  specialized texts and be prepared to make
  explicit the strategies and the resources used
  to understand and translate the texts (see
  Scarpa, Federica, (2001), Capitoli 3,4,5,6,7).
• NB. During the exam students will not be required
  to show their translations, but they should be
  able to read, understand, translate into Italian
  and analyse the texts in the Dossier following
  the guidelines given in the set books.
• The final mark will include the 3rd year prova
  propedeutica result
