- The vehicle also incorporates passive safety
(with the new Renault System for Restraint and
Protection incorporated into the front and rear
seats).
- A "smart" card locks and unlocks the doors and
engine immobilizer, as well as - memorizing the car's comfort settings.
- This allows the driver to set seat positioning,
mirror settings etc. to his or her preferences.
These settings will be set up automatically when
the key card is used.

- A sensor measures the speed at which the brake
pedal is depressed a clear indication of when a
driver is facing an emergency-braking situation.
At that point, extra pressure is generated in the
brake circuit, which allows the full application
of all the braking effort (in conjunction with
ABS) to be introduced as quickly as possible
- The Electronic Stability Programme (EPS) has also
been incorporated, regulating engine power and
brake pressure on one or more wheels to put the
driver in maximum command when an incident forces
evasive action. - This allows the driver to set seat positioning,
mirror settings etc. to his or her preferences.
These settings will be set up automatically when
the key card is used.

All cars manufactured today contain at least one
computer. It is in charge of monitoring engine
emissions and adjusting the engine to keep
emissions as low as possible. The computer
receives information from a many different
sensors. The oxygen sensor The air pressure
sensor The air temperature sensor The engine
temperature sensor The throttle position sensor
The knock sensor The oxygen sensor
- Tyre Pressure monitor
- Inside the inflation valve on each wheel there is
a sensor that acts as an early warning system
against problems associated with a loss of tyre
pressure. - Information is transmitted by coded radio signal
so as to identify the problem wheel to an
on-board computer, which checks against the speed
of the vehicle and informs the driver as
necessary.

- Using the information from these sensors
- The computer can control things like
- the fuel injectors,
- spark plugs and the idle speed to get the best
performance possible from the engine while
keeping emissions low. - Diagnostics
- The computer can also sense when something has
gone wrong and can inform the driver with the
"Check Engine" light. A mechanic can read a
diagnostic code from the computer and fix the
problem.
