  • it is widely agreed that social capital
    facilitates mutually beneficial collective action.

  • Social Cooperatives
  • The term cooperative means an autonomous
    association of persons united voluntarily to meet
    their common economic, social and cultural needs
    and aspirations through jointly owned and
    democratically controlled enterprise.
  • An enterprise is an organisation that
    commercially provides products or services in a
    competitive market place.
  • Social Economy
  • The Social Economy can be defined as that part of
    the economy which is neither private nor public,
    but consists of constituted organisations, with
    voluntary members and boards of directors or
    management committees, undertaking activities for
    local benefit.

  • The European Profile
  • In the European Union there are about 300.000
    cooperatives, providing 4.8 million jobs. They
    exist in all member states and in accession or
    candidate countries. At the same time they
    inflyence the every day life of more than 140
    million of cititzens who are members in
    cooperatives
  • All cooperatives act in the economic interest of
    their members, while some of them in addition
    devote activities to achieve social or
    environmental objectives in their members and in
    a wider community interest.

  • Mental Health Patients
  • Mental health patients is the single most
    difficult group to be professionally reintegrated
    to the labor market.
  • International experience indicates that there is
    a recovery gap between therapy and
    rehabilitation.
  • WHO defines mental health as a state of well
    being in which the individual is content with
    himself and his accomplishments and not the mere
    absence of mental illness.
  • Added Value
  • Social cooperatives contribute to combat social
    exclusion since their general objective is not
    only reintegration of people from vulnerable
    social groups (homeless, addicts, inmates, etc.)
    but also training and socialization

  • REQUIREMENT FOR ESTABLISMENT
  • Feasibility permit from the ministry of Health
    and Social Solidarity
  • ABOUT SOCIAL COOPERATIVES
  • Social Cooperatives are Legal Entities of Private
    Law with limited liability of their members
  • They are Mental Health Units that belong to the
    public mental health sectors
  • They are able to be involved in commercial
    activities regulated by the Commercial Code
  • They aim at the socio/economical reintegration of
    people with mental health and severe psychosocial
    problems

  • TYPES OF ACTIVITIES
  • There is a variety of activities such as
    productive, commercial, consuming, educational or
    cultural
  • Ability to participate in European Groups of
    Economic Purposes, Joint Ventures, Corporations
    and municipal enterprises
  • Capacity of participation in Developmental
    projects and cooperation with other companies,
    associations, legal or natural persons of public
    law.
  • MEMBERSHIP
  • Natural persons in need of rehabilitation due to
    mental disorder lt35, mental health professionals
    from the national health system gt45, other
    natural or legal persons of public or private
    law.
  • MEMBER PRIVILEGES
  • Members with psychosocial problems are able to
    work without loosing any welfare privileges due
    to disability

  • FINANCIAL RESOURCES
  • Subsidy from the state Budget or the National
    Investment Program, co-funded programs by the EU
    or International Organizations, Donations,
    Grants on the use of properties, Revenues from
    the Cooperative activities and from the
    cooperative properties
  • CAPITAL
  • The capital consists of the cooperative parts,
    regular (ordinary) reserve funds, additional
    (extraordinary) reserve funds, special reserve
    funds.
  • TAXES
  • Limited liability Social Cooperatives are
    exempt from all forms of taxation except VAT

  • ABOUT KLIMAX PLUS
  • Klimax plus was founded at 2005 and is mainly
    formed from two elder organizations Klimaka N.G.O
    and Klimax a civil cooperation.
  • At present time the commercial activity is paper
    recycling which consist of several stages
  • Collection of Used paper ( companies,
    organizations)
  • Picking the different categories ( newspaper,
    magazine, office paper)
  • Selling the paper wholesale to small industries
  • Creating small gifts from recycling paper (
    cards, frames)

  • MEMBERS EMPOYEES
  • There are 40 members , 10 employees, 9 of them
    are facing mental health and psychosocial
    problems, 7 of them are ex-homeless people
  • ABOUT THE FUTURE
  • Klimax plus submitted a funding proposal that
    would create 10 new job places for people with
    mental health problems, offer the opportunity of
    purchasing new equipment and cover operating cost
    of the cooperation for a year
