- Entrepreneur - start-up, partnership or purchase

- Employer driven
- Provide experienced workers to key industry
sectors - Help employers meet human resource requirements
- Transfer skills to Canadian employees
7Skilled Worker - Criteria
- Guaranteed offer of permanent employment
- Work for a New Brunswick employer
- Work normally done in New Brunswick
- Employer provides competitive wages and working
conditions - Worker in an area of skilled shortage

- Attract new ideas investment dollars
- Introduce critical business skills
- Create employment opportunities
- Establish international business links
9Entrepreneur - Criteria
- Experience in owning or managing a business
- Financial resources for business development and
family settlement - Be actively involved in the business
- Link between previous experience and business
plan is helpful

- Basic knowledge of English or French
- Joint ventures or partnerships with existing New
Brunswick companies are often desirable options

- Submit preliminary information
- Participate in an exploratory visit
- Interview with government officials
- Submit a business plan and immigration

- New Brunswick nominates applicants on the basis
of business plan, experience and net worth - Canadian Visa Post screens applications for
medical, security and criminal background - Canadian Visa Post makes the final decision on
immigration and issues a permanent resident visa

hours during the school term and full-time during
vacation breaks - Ethnic Communities (e.g. Jewish Community of

21Role of Immigration Professionals
- In some markets, Immigration Professionals play a
major role during all phases of the immigration
process - New Brunswick is prepared to work with bona fide
Immigration Professionals - Immigration Professionals are expected to
- pre-screen their clients thereby ensuring that
the prospective immigrants meet or exceed all New
Brunswick PNP requirements - take part in the total PNP process including the
exploratory visits and retention/settlement
related activities - New Brunswick is in the process of developing
guidelines that will clarify the role of
Immigration Professionals in the PNP process
22Future of the PNP
- It appears that CIC is satisfied with the general
direction of the PNP - NB is satisfied with the initial results going
in the right direction - Learning curve
- The real jury is still out (retention)
